While going on one of my usual rants about having to get the lighting perfect, the music perfect, the mood perfect for our events, I ran into a big reality check.

My wife listened for a moment and then asked, “What did any of these minute things have to do with the overall vision and forward movement of our company?”

She was definitely right, none of it would eventually make or break our movement. I definitely appreciated that reality check, because it got me on course to really tackle the more important elements of making our company great today, tomorrow and 50 years from now.

I looked @ our Marketing Mix, Business Metrics, Overall Mission, Business Model, etc. All of these over the last few weeks were much more productive and beneficial to accomplishing maximum success for our team.

So I recommend when you’re ranting and complaining about minor issues or even feeling you’re on top of the world, it’s good to listen to that little voice and even your personal reality checker. You’ll realize you have tons of more important work to do and more mountains to climb.
