Results indicated that across informants (parents and children, boys and girls) gastric banding surgery and weight loss pills were perceived as less acceptable forms of treatment than diet, exercise, and family behavior therapy. There was also no significant correlation between treatment acceptability ratings and body mass index (BMI), health-related quality of life, or number of previously attempted weight loss strategies.
