What’s up folks,
I wanted to write today about the importance of having a quality Nightclub DJ play at your events, simply because the DJ is who affects the vibe of your event and whether or not your guests have a great time. Have a great enough time to say, “When’s Your Next Event because this was great!”
The DJ is the one who will eventually make or break your party, because most promoters have little control over the delivery of the music, unless they can DJ themselves which is usually not the case.
My work was made easier for me, because I actually found an article on Club Planet with great related tips for club DJs here:
http://www.clubplanet.com/Articles/1412/CP-Classic-10-Tips-for-DJs
If you’d like to save yourself a lot of headache, you should read this article and send it to every DJ you work with.
Along with these ten I would add a few more tips for DJs:
11. Listen to the promoter or club owner presenting the party.
This is simply because the promoter already knows his audience much better than you do and what they expect from a DJ. Also the promoter / club owner are the ones moving around the event and getting immediate feedback from the guests, “Is he going to play new music? … Are they going to pick up the pace? … Can he play my favorite song? & of course the worst …That DJ is wack!”
A good DJ needs to be able to listen!
12. Be able to take constructive criticism.
This tips is along the lines of listening once again. No one is a know it all, so the dj has to be able to listen to constructive criticism in order to improve and make himself better. Take the tips and strengthen the talent he already has, to become even better.
13. Be creative and entertaining.
If the DJ plans to just go through the motions and play like any old person with 2 CD players might as well just download a mix online and put it in to spin all night. The reason I say this is, the vibe starts with the DJ playing the music and it will translate to the guests and their experience.
A DJ needs to be able to entertain and bring something different to the table. Play in a style that’s his own, bring in a mix the audience has never heard before, play with energy and work to get people involved in the musical experience.
DJs need to realize that they are there to perform, not play like they are chilling by the beach on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
The list could go on and on, but these tips are a good foundation to start with.
Nothing is worse to a promoter than, spending weeks and tons of resources promoting an event, only for hundreds of people to show up and the DJ kills the whole vibe of the event.
If you’re a promoter or a club owner, you should copy this article and send it to every DJ you work with. So when you bring up issues with them, they can’t act like they don’t know what you’re talking about.
Once you’ve done your part and they still aren’t willing to improve, it’s time to hand them a pink slip and get a hungry DJ who is willing to do what it takes to make your event a success.
TRENDS, Out!
